Maison George Sand-Nohant
Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin de Francueil, known as George Sand, was a French novelist, memoirist, and journalist. A leading figure of European Romanticism, she was even more popular in Britain in the 1830s–40s than Victor Hugo and Honoré de Balzac. She spent much of her childhood at her grandmother’s home in Nohant, in the Berry region of France—today preserved as Maison de George Sand, which visitors can explore.
